How To Plan Your Outfit
HOW TO PLAN YOUR OUTFIT
Nothing beats being able to throw your fancy wardrobe wide open and select the right outfit for an occasion, just like that! But, only a few of us have that luxury. The rest rummage through piles of outfits and accessories for some time, trying to find the perfect match. In the end, they select a terrible outfit combination due to inadequate planning time and a frantic rush.
If you want to avoid the frustration and anxiety of selecting the ideal outfit for an event in the dying minute, you should organize your clothes into wearable outfits. And how do you do that? How do you get the most of your wardrobe? Below, I have highlighted a few helpful tips.
Have a good inspiration
Looking at a full wardrobe adorned with all sorts of outfits and accessories can be like staring at a table filled with all your favorite dishes. The confusion that strikes you afterwards can blow your mind. To ensure that this doesn't happen, you should use some inspiration.
Planning your outfit becomes as easy as ABC if you have a few inspiring ideas up there. For ladies, this idea could be a slim-cut navy suit with a white shirt (for interviews). Or a simple T-shirt rocked with a pair of bold pants and boots (for casual outings. For guys, this idea could be a bomber jacket, turned up jeans, a plain T and cool sneakers (for casual outings). Or a sports coat, dress shirt, slacks, and a dress shoe (for work). You can come up with more inspiring ideas and add them to your outfit combination.
Begin with a simple or a statement item
The hack to planning your outfit is by selecting one item and creating an outfit around it. What does this mean, basically? It means selecting denim jeans and creating an outfit around the jeans. The outfit could include a blazer, white inner top and a pair of sneakers. Or for ladies, you could build an outfit around a high-waisted skirt, which might be nude heels and a simple white top. Ensure you examine each item and figure out the different ways you could wear it. For each item, consider these things:
- What lifestyle activity is the combination suitable for?
- Can you include another layer on top or under this one?
- What if I switch up the color?
- How can I enhance the appearance of this item with accessories?
Put your outfits together
Another way to plan your outfit is by laying out your basic bottom items (skirts or trousers). Next, take a look at the color and style of each item. Afterwards, grab each top, be it a shirt, blouse, or what have you, and see how many bottom items can match the selected tops.
Table any jumpers, blazers, sweatshirts, jackets, and accessories. You can as well merge these items to see how they match with other elements. Dig deep into the well of your creativity to come up with ideal combinations.
After coming up with several outfit combinations, revisit each item and see if they can create a different combination. You want to ensure that you get the best out of your wardrobe, so take your time and inspect all your options.
